APAG Leads Unity Rally Against Hate and Bigotry

Dec 2025

United Against Hate. United for Peace. United as One. Community leaders, faith representatives, and residents came together for a Press Conference and Unity Rally to send a clear message: hate and bigotry have no place in our city or our country.

This event was organized following the December 14, 2025 shooting at a Chanukah event in Australia, after which NYC Councilmember Vickie Paladino used her public platform to make statements that unfairly and dangerously targeted the Muslim community. While the initial post was later removed from X, it was followed by an op-ed that doubled down on those claims—an escalation that required a clear, collective response. Such rhetoric undermines our shared values of inclusion, dignity, and coexistence.

Together, we demanded accountability and called for meaningful action. Public officials must be held to the highest standards, and serious investments from city, state, and federal governments are needed to address all forms of hate, without exception.

We will remain peaceful, vigilant, and united, standing up for dignity, safety, and respect for all. God bless New York City and the United States of America.

APAG Advocates for Hospital Language Access Legislation

Nov 2025

State Senator John Liu and Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, joined by the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) and other community organizations, held a press conference at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in Flushing to call on Governor Kathy Hochul to sign the Hospital Language Access Bill (A387/S6288) into law.
This critical legislation will ensure that patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) receive timely, accurate, and equitable medical care—addressing a longstanding barrier to healthcare access across New York State.
Under the bill, hospitals will be required to provide interpretation and translation services in key languages, including Urdu, to ensure that all patients can fully understand their care and make informed health decisions.
APAG President Ali Rashid emphasized that language should never be a barrier to quality healthcare. The proposed law represents a vital step toward equity and inclusion for New York’s diverse communities.
