The American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) In collaboration with other community organizations conducted a virtual New York City Mayoral Candidate Forum. Advancing the Muslim agenda for 2021 & beyond.
New York City is home to 22% (1 million) of US Muslims according to the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding. The American Muslim community is one of the most ethnically and racially diverse communities that reside in all 5 boroughs, and are fully integrated into American society. According to Emgage data, there were 350,000 active Muslim voters across the 5 boroughs.
The 2017 Mayoral race was decided by only 450,000 votes in the Primary. In 2021 there are approximately 350,000 registered Muslim active voters in NYC. Imagine if even half of these Muslims turn out and vote in the Primary!
Free COVID-19 Testing

Since January 2021, the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) has been providing free COVID-19 testing to the community in Richmond Hill, Queens.

Community education and outreach on Rank Choice Voting
March 2021
Starting in 2021, New York City will use Ranked Choice Voting in primary and special elections for local offices. You can rank up to 5 candidates in order of preference, instead of choosing just one. You can still vote for just one candidate if you prefer. The next Ranked Choice Voting elections will be on March 23rd, 2021 in special elections for NYC Council Districts 11 and 15 in the Bronx. The Census plays a crucial part in shaping our country - how political districts at the federal, state, and local levels are drawn, where and how federal funding is allocated, a record of who lives in your community and how the population is changing, long-term planning for cities in investing in transportation, education, or any other resource, and much more.
This is why in 2020, we focused a major portion of our work on Census outreach.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Scholarship

The American Pakistani Advocacy Group is proud to offer the first of its kind, The Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Scholarship for Pakistani students in New York. This scholarship is aimed to provide need-based assistance for first-generation, Pakistani college students currently attending CUNY/ SUNY schools. The scholarship aims to aid these students in their academic endeavors and to cultivate leaders of the next generation.
Winter Clothing Drive
February 2022
American Pakistani Advocacy Group Cares (APAG Cares) Winter Clothing Drive was held this Saturday in New York with the goal of keeping our community warm. APAG team distributed new jackets, socks, gloves, hats, and masks to the community and people in need. It’s all about giving back to the community. Special thanks to Mr. Nawab Adil Khan, Consul/HOC, Consulate General of Pakistan, New York for attending and assisting in the distribution.
